Duneville is the main settlement and also the only place with a Myrad Tower in the Powder Desert. The city is build around a freshwater lake inside a large cave, which offers protection from the many sandstorms in the desert. Many of Duneville's inhabitants often complain about these storms. Because the town is inside the cave, it is impossible to tell night from day. The merchants still follow opening hours from 8am to 8pm.

The city is build on wooden planks and posts, which form houses and towers without walls. Some of the towers are connected through pendant bridges and planks. The only fortified building is Duneville, Prison.
Finding Jespar
After the meeting with Lexil, you find out that the instruments needed to power The Beacon are called the Black Stones, and one of them was supposedly in the possession of Jespar's family. It is best to ask Jespar himself.
Go to where he usually stays - the The Dancing Nomad tavern in the Foreign Quarters. After looking around you will find out that he is nowhere to be seen. Talk to the Inkeeper Ulfur Featherdance to obtain information about your friend. The innkeeper will tell you that he hasn't seen Jespar, however, he did receive a package meant for your friend. Inside of it, you will find a map, with three marked locations around Ark. Since Jespar is not here, it is up to you to follow those clues.
The first clue is located just south of Ark. It is map-marked, so you shouldn't have any problems locating it. Enter the Sewer Exit and inside you will find a rather gruesome sight - a skeleton, in what appears to be some sort of acidic substance. In front of the victim there is a satchel. Open it and you will find a note:
style="text-align: left;font-style: italic;"|
(In scrawly handwriting)

Hereby I, captain Yaanul Ooroi, confess my sins.

For decades, I have captured men and women on all of Vyns continents, selling them as cargo to the highest bidder. 462 men, 561 women and 210 children all owe me a life in slavery. I do not remember their names.

Now the time of my punishment has come - and I am grateful for the bone judge's verdict. I will hang crucified over a bath of acid, its etching bubbles burning the skin of my body. No one will hear my cries and my death will be a lonely one - no more, and no less than I deserve.

Yaanul Ooroi, slaver

(In a different handwriting): For my brother in arms:

K__c__ k__c__ __'_ _h___? __me _n _l__e_ __ o___ _u _ar_.

It appears that whoever is responsible for the death of the captain, calls themselves the bone judge. In order to find out more, you must pursue the second hint.
Enter the Ark, Sewers (for example from the Foreign Quarters; the entrance is behind the Dancing Nomad) and make your way through the dungeon. There are several enemies so stay cautious. In the room with the three conjured guardians, there is a key on top of the dresser. Take it, and continue on. At the end you will find another victim - a dead woman in a cage, in a room full of spoiled food. Supposedly, she starved to death. Clearly, whoever is responsible for this is a very sadistic person. Take the note on the table and read it:
style="text-align: left;font-style: italic;"|
Hereby I, Elaria Barberdaughter, confess my sins.

Yearlong I murdered for money, going by the name of the "black widow". Man or woman, old or young, it made no difference - I was never prosecuted for my crimes, as I always knew how to escape justice. I am a despicable creature, without sense, without compassion; a dead woman living whose very existence is not allowed to be fact.

Now the time of my punishment has come - and I am grateful for the bone judge, who carries out my verdict. I will endure in this metal cage, without food or drink, until hunger and thirst consume both body and soul. No one will hear my cries, just as no one heard those souls whose lives I ruined.

Elaria Barberdaughter, Murderess

(In a different handwriting): For my brother in arms:

_no___ _no___ wh___ t_er__ C___ i_ a__n_, i_ _n__ y__ d____
Do not try to solve the riddle at the end of these letters, it will be solved automatically.
The third hint is a bit further from Ark this time. Go north until you reach a Field near the Mill. Enter the Old Granary. It appears to be infested with rats. There is a note and a key in one of the rooms, take the key, it unlocks the room with the next victim. This time it is a man, who was chained to the ground and eaten alive by rats. There is a note as well:
style="text-align: left;font-style: italic;"|
(The lines were written by a trembling hand)

Hereby I, Boreo Oatbash, confess my sins.

Driven by my greed, I abducted children from the Undercity for years and locked them up within this cellar. I abused them, tormented them, and eventually sold them to the highest bidder.

(Here the font becomes shakier. On the parchment, dried blood is recognizable.)

Now the time of my punishment has come - and I thank the bone judge who will carry out the sentence. Enchained, I will be forced to watch as a pack of rats devours me alive. My screams will be heard no more than the ones of those souls whose lives I ruined here.

Boreo Oatbash, child trafficker and murderer.

(In a different handwriting): For my brother in arms:

____k, ____k, __o_s ____e_ _o__ __ __o___ _f __ly _o_ ___e_
After collecting all the notes, head back to Ark. Perhaps Jespar is back from whatever he was doing?
Go to the Dancing Nomad once again, but this time, go up the stairs and take the door on the right. That's where Jespar is. Talk to him.

Sympathy points:

After asking him about his troubles:
*Tell me. Maybe I can help you. (+10)

The hideout
After speaking to Jespar you find out that the phrase is a sort of secret code between him and his sister, but he doesn't want to believe that she is the dreaded 'Bone Judge'. He plans to take you to his old estate to prove it.
Travel to Duneville, Jespar will be waiting for you outside. Travel together to his old estate northwest of Duneville. Once at the estate, Jespar will start leading you towards the secret entrance. Be ready, as there may be lions hiding in the tall grass.
Once you enter Old Shadow Steel Mine you will encounter some lost ones. There will only be three of them so they shouldn't be a problem. Continue following Jespar until you reach a clearing, where he will stop you and say that he wants to meet his sister alone. No matter what you say, he will not allow you to accompany him. Your only choice is to make way through a separate tunnel.
The tunnel itself is straightforward, and leads to a thicket where you may safely observe the siblings' encounter.

The confrontation
While eavesdropping on their conversation, you find out that Jespar's sister, Adila, found the BlackStone herself and is now in the posession of the Stone. It seems to have corrupted her mind, but made her a very powerful mage and warrior. She took her new powers as an occasion to avenge her father's, Damean Dal'Varek, death which was caused by Valenzio Doran. It is him who she captured and kills in front of you and Jespar. Jespar tries to make her come to her senses, but is ultimately unsuccessful and she kills him.
You must now confront Adila. All of the dialogue choices lead to a fight. Be careful as at long range she uses explosive fireballs which may obscure your vision. At close range she uses two swords.
After vanquishing Adila, search her body for the Black Stone and retrieve it. When you attempt to leave the dungeon, the Veiled Woman appears and thankfully resurrects Jespar. You may now check up on him.

Sympathy points:

After Jespar asks what happened:
*She attacked you, and I... I just had to do something. I am so sorry. (+15)
*She wouldn't listen to reason, Jespar... I am sorry. (+10)
*I killed her. (-5)

Return the Black Stone
Head back to the Sun Temple and deliver the Black Stone to Archmagister Lexil Merrâyil.
If this is the last Balck Stone which you need to return Black Light, Part II will start automatically.
If you still need to find one or two Black Stones you also need to complete the following quests: Enderal:Angel and/or A Song in the Silence.

Notes
There are several enemies so stay cautious. In the room with the three conjured guardians, there is a key on top of the dresser. Take it, and continue on. At the end you will find another victim - a dead woman in a cage, in a room full of spoiled food. Supposedly, she starved to death. Clearly, whoever is responsible for this is a very sadistic person. Take the note on the table and read it:
style="text-align: left;font-style: italic;"|

There is a note as well:
style="text-align: left;font-style: italic;"|

Once you enter Shadow Steel Mine you will encounter some lost ones.

Notes
* The piece that plays during the confrontation with Adila is called 'Storm and Stress'
According to Lexil's notes one of the Stone are in possession of the noble family of the Dal'Vareks - Jespar's family. I searched for Jespar in the Dancing Nomad but he wasn't there. The innkeeper gave me a casket for Jespar with a marked map inside - I should investigate those places.
{{Quest Stage|30|
The markings on the map all turned out to lead to murder scenes. In total, I found three victims all of whom, by the looks of it, were gruesomely tortured to death. They also each left a letter in which they confessed to atrocious crimes and thanked their murderer, the "Bone Judge" for absolving them of their sins through their deaths. I also found a series of single letters at the end of each note. Put together, they form the following phrase: "Knock, knock, who's there? Come in alone, if only you dare."
Jespar was irritated by my findings, as he knew the strange sentence at the end of the confessions: He and his sister Adila used it as password when they wanted to slip out of the house for their explorations. Jespar is completely hysterical and denies the obvious answer: That his sister is behind the revenge killings, manipulated by one of the Black Stones. It seems that she wanted him to find the corpses and the password is a peculiar invitation for a meeting. He wants to convince me of the contrary.
Finding Jespar
After the meeting with Lexil, you find out that the instruments needed to power The Beacon are called the Black Stones, and one of them was supposedly in the possession of Jespar's family. It is best to ask Jespar himself.
Go to where he usually stays - the Dancing Nomad tavern in the Foreign Quarters.
Open it and you will find a note:
style="text-align: left;font-style: italic;"|

Take the note on the table and read it:
style="text-align: left;font-style: italic;"|

There is a note as well:
style="text-align: left;font-style: italic;"|

Once you enter Shadow Steel Mine you will encounter some lost ones.

Notes
* The piece that plays during the confrontation with Adila is called 'Storm and Stress'
My suspicion was right - Jespar's sister Adila Dal'Varek was responsible for the murders. She discovered the Stone for herself and saw it as some sort of calling to continue "her father's, Damean Dal'Varek's, legacy" through killing criminals in gruesome ways. The meeting of Jespar and his sister escalated and Adila killed him.
The Sewers can be entered through a trapdoor-like entrance behind the Dancing Nomad in the Foreign Quarter of Ark. It is part of the main quest and occupied by several Rats and Conjured Guardians. In the room on the left, the Reality Hammer can be found on a table. Following the path downstairs to the left leads to another room with a locked lattice door. It can be opened more easily by obtaining the Ark Sewer Key from the top of the wardrobe in the room.

After following the path through two lattice doors, you will eventually arrive in a dark room. Upon entering, a magical light illuminates the room and a Soil Elemental appears. Defeating it and following the dungeon leads you into a room filled with spoiled food and a corpse inside. The Note from the Corpse in the Sewers can be found next to it. Behind a door, a ladder leads back outside to the Suncoast but it can only be accessed with the key.
Old Iniath is a Pyrean Ruin located on top of the highest mountain in the Frostcliff Mountains. Finding it will grant you the Steam-Achievement "Reach for the Stars". The ruin can be reached by following the path north from Northwind Storage, then turning to the sharp left past an abandoned camp with several Conjured Guardians. A high number of Red Vynroot grows on the snowy path leading up the mountain. Be aware of Fire Elementals and an Ice Bear when trying to reach the top of the mountain. It is part of an unnamed mini-quest surrounding the Mysterious Note found in the Koppophon blueprint which can be bought in Ark, Bank.

The outside of the ruin is guarded by several Nehrimese Soldiers and Nehrimese Mages, some of them being on lookout on the high towers of the fortress. A chest is located on the left tower in the back. The fortress can be entered through two heavy doors, one on top of the right tower and another one closer to the ground on the left. Upon entering the door on the left, you arrive in front of a bridge which leads into a Soldier Camp. Their camp is filled with potions and food supplies. The room straight ahead of this one is empty, but to its right is another empty one with a locked massive chest inside. In the rooms to the left are even more Soldiers and Summoned Elementals. Noteworthy is one of the rooms which seems to have been a workshop once, as is indicated by the half-finished Starling construction and Starling Spiders. A letter lies on the table in the workshop and tells a story of what happened: The Nehrimese Soldiers managed to fight the Starling machines on the upper levels of the ruin, but more are expected in the lower levels. A small expedition team lead by a man called Melren was sent to explore more parts of the dungeon.

The lower levels of Old Iniath can be accesed through two doors, behind which Starling Guardians and more Nehrimese Soldiers as well as their summoned creatures are waiting. The room behind the workshop is notable because of a hidden Ice Claw behind the metal columns. One Starling Centurion is waiting in front of the other door leading back to the main camp. Another door leads to a spiral staircase which connects the camp to the second entrance, located on the tower, mentioned above.

Entering Old Iniath, Glacial Pass you will encounter more enemies. Eventually, you arrive in a room with two soldiers and the Expedition Leader Melren. He is a rather skilled mage, so make sure you're prepared for the fight. A chest titled "Merlen's Chest" contains coins as well as the artifact Kopp's Soul Gem, which is needed to craft the Koppophon.
Of Quest Headers
Hello Davipb! Do you think is it a good idea to add quest difficulty to the header of the quest pages? The reason of this being that the mod is designed for different levels of the player and trying to do a hard quest early can be daunting for the players sometimes. Great job on the headers btw, looks fantastic.--Apocrypha (talk) 10:05, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
:Hey there! Yeah, now that you mention it, it would be a good idea, although I'm not sure how we would do it for quests like The Biggest Egg Hunt Ever, which vary from Easy to Very Hard. I was thinking about doing a "Quest Objectives" template, but since this wiki doesn't have the Loops Extension installed, I don't think it's possible to have a variable number of arguments on a template. I'll add it as a new field on the quest header, as you suggested. Thanks! -- Davipb (talk) 16:33, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
:: If the quest escalates, the player will be informed in game clearly, so maybe only the first starting quest difficulty of the chain will give the player enough information when to start the quest. In The Biggest Egg Hunt Ever, I started to create the page while doing the quest, but then delayed it until I can handle (***) quests. That's the intention of escalating quests, the game asks of you to delay them deliberately.--Apocrypha (talk) 16:46, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
::: I've added the
difficulty
parameter to the template, which can set as a number from 0 to 4, intended to represent the in-game asterisks, or set to any text for special cases. You can see some examples in the template page itself, and I'm currently making a few images to better represent each difficulty. -- Davipb (talk)
I've read your message, my bad, can I change the name of the files somehow?

A favor
Hallo, Davipb! Since you seem to be the most experienced wiki-editor around here, I was wondering; Would you mind improving upon the Settlements template? I'd do it myself, but I'm afraid I'm rather too inexperienced (and at the same time too busy to gain the experience) to make it. If not, I can see what I myself can do; No worries! Thanks. --Jemolk (talk) 06:40, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
: Hey there! No problem, I don't know if I'll have the time for it today, but as soon as I have the time I'll see what I can do! -- Davipb (talk) 09:56, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
: Update: I've made the template consistent with the existing templates (mainly Template:NPC) visually. I don't do much work in the places/regions section of the wiki, so I'm not sure if there are any extra fields that should be added. I always try to make the source code neatly organized and consistent, so you should be able to add or change things around just by looking at how it's organized now, but you can tell me if any problems arise. -- Davipb (talk) 21:55, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
