- On the marketplace of the Undercity witnessed a dispute - apparently because of some sort of tincture.
- After talking with Nathalia
- I spoke with Nathalia Moonskin who is working for the apothecarii from the Pest House - those need 10 batches of Red Vynroot, a rare herb, to cure infected people. However the merchant Kabar Thorwall only sells them for horrendous prices and if the apothecarii cannot get new roots soon, 10 odd new graves will have to be digged [sic] shortly. I should speak with Kabar Thorwall.
- After talking with Kabar
- Kabar wasn't very cooperative. If I want to help the House of the Apothecarii I need to buy the 10 batches myself. However it seems that Kabar himself wasn't very happy about the situation... perhaps I should dig a bit deeper.
- After finishing the quest by buying 10 Vynroots
- I managed to get the red Bynroot for Nathalia - I hope that the apothecarii can save many lives with it.
- After reading the letter in Kabar's room
- I found an anonymous letter in Kabar's bedroom which summons him to a meeting in the "Corpsepit". I should take a look at that meeting.
- After threatening Kabar
- No matter the circumstances, Kabar himself is responsible for his problems - and the people who have flesh maggots need the herbs more urgently than he his money. I forced him to give me the roots. I should tell that to Nathalia.
- After giving money to Kabar
- I managed to persuade Kabar of lowering the price of the root. I should tell that to Nathalia.
Walkthrough
This quest will begin automatically once you witness Nathalia Poppyflower arguing with Kabar Thorwall on the Undercity's Marketplace. After talking with Nathalia and Kabar, you will have two options:
Buying the Vynroots yourself
This is the most direct path, but also the one that reveals the least about the truth of the situation. Just buy the Vynroots from Kabar for 300 Pennies and give them to Nathalia. The quest will complete and you'll receive 2100 EP.
Digging for the truth
If you want to find out what's really going on, go into Kabar's room and read the letter there. A new objective will appear in the Corpse Pit. After witnessing the meeting and talking with Kabar, you'll learn that he is neck-deep in debt with the Rhalâta. Select any option here then talk with Nathalia to finish the quest and receive 1300 EP.
If you choose to give him 300 pennies to pay his debt, he will give you a learning book granting +1 memory point.
Notes
- If you want you can complete both objectives and receive more exp. First buy the roots, then follow Kabar and lower the cost for Nathalia to buy for next time. When you get a chance to talk with her again say that she is good to buy the products at a lower price she will thank you and the quest will be completed, but talk with her again and give her the roots to receive the all objectives complete and more exp.
