Signet Leader Jorek Bartarr is the Keeper of The Order responsible for conducting the initiation trials for Novices who wish to become exalted to Keepers of the First Sigil. He was the supervisor for The Prophet's and Calia Sakaresh's trial.

Personality

Jorek appears to be very skeptical, but open. He has no trouble calling out Dunwar's attitude during his trial, despite Dunwar's bloodline and recommendations from higher-ranking officials, and also has no trouble in openly disagreeing with Grandmaster Tealor Arantheal's ideas about The Cycle and Emissaries. He seems to value people for their achievements rather than their ranks or talents, as he constantly reminds The Prophet during the trial that they'll have to "prove if they're worth it" despite their impressive magical aura.

Personal Life

Jorek has a serious Glimmercap Dust and alcohool addiction. According to Tealor he is "only here and not on the Undercity because of [his] bloodline".

Death

Template:Spoiler During Taranor Coarek's invasion of Enderal, Jorek worked with the Nehrimese army, giving out insider information in order to try to ensure Ark would be conquered quickly. He saw Grandmaster Tealor Arantheal's actions as foolish, as Tealor would rather have his people suffer through a war than stop rebuilding an "old dusty machine". According to him, he "did it because a quick cut is better than bleeding out slowly". When Jorek refused to reveal who else was working for Coarek, the Grandmaster killed him with a sword.

While the Glimmercap Dust bottle found near Lishari Peghast's body suggests that Jorek was the one that killed her and hired the mercenaries that attacked Old Dothûlgrad, it is later revealed that such evidence was planted by the real culprit.

Notes

  • During his interrogation on the Curarium, Jorek's name is mistranslated as "Sigil Bearer Jorek Bartarr".
