Installation
Official Site
Please start with the official website, it has a very nice walk though on the installation process.
Video Tutorials
There are also some video tutorials available :
- Watch "Gophers" YouTube video about the installation process.
- How to install Enderal parallel to Skyrim!.
Installation Notes:
- First you have to look up the system requirements. If you meet all the requirements you are good to go. Using the Steamversion of Enderal is a requirement!
- As second step you need to download the installation package (around 8GB). At the moment there are three options to download: moddb, nexusmods and torrent (we recommend the torrent for the highest download speed.)
- The third step is to download the Enderal Launcher which installs updates, manages your directories/librabies and installs the game itself. The Launcher size may vary due to launcher updates.
- Care: Do not unzip the installation package by yourself in the Skyrim folder! This causes a lot of problems. Just let the Launcher do his work.
- Run the launcher exe. It automatically writes itself into your Skyrim folder. If not move it there by yourself C:\program files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\Skyrim and run it.
- Press the "Install Enderal now" button. Then you need to select the installation file. Now you have to choose the path of your installation package by clicking on the button with three points next to the path field.
- Skyrim will be moved to a backup folder. After that the installation process begins (Do not cancel the installation! It could take some minutes, especially in the beginnig, because the launcher is removing the write protecion of steam und unziping some big files).
- Enderal is now completly installed.
- To play at all, you need the activation patch 1.1.0.1. At two points you can check if your game and launcher files are up to date: in the upper corner or by simply clicking on the "update" button in the right corner.
- There should be a button which displays either e.g. "Enderal Update 1.1... available" or "Your version is up to date!"/"Welcome to Enderal!"
- The actual version of the game and launcher is displayed in the upper left corner e.g. "1.1.0.2|A40". The first number is the game version. The number behind the "A" shows the launcher version.
- We recommend to install every update! Sometimes the launcher wants to restart himself, thats usually the case if a launcher update was released.
- if you want further information about the patch notes, visit this summary in the wiki or the news forum on our website.
Clean Install
This is the recommendation for doing a clean install if you are having issues.
1) Backup your Skyrim folder, typically they are either in one of these locations:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim
- C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\
2) In Steam goto Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Right click and select 'Delete local content'
Move or delete your skyrim directory if it still exists.
3) Download Skryim from Steam
4) Start Skyrim once and exist (so it autodetects settings)
5) Do a normal Enderal install Enderal:Technical_information#Installation
6) Update Enderal with Enderal Launch
7) Launch and start a 'new' game (don't continue)
Troubleshooting
Please see Enderal:LauncherDebugging

Bug Reporting
Tips for submitting bug report:
- Make sure it's an Enderal specific bug and not generic bug with Skyrim.
- Make sure you are testing on latest version
- Upload game save when applicable (important for quest bugs) or screenshots if structure related.
- Provide enough details to help developers easily reproduce issue (including precise steps to reproduce conditions).
- Include cell and item ids when applicable or any other information you think would be helpful.
Getting Help
If you have issues with Enderal and due to a bug, please see above.
These online communities may also be able to assist you:
Patches and Updates
You should be able to update your version to latest by clicking 'Update' in Enderal Launcher.
Patches and update notes are keep on the on patches page
Performance Tweaks
Disclaimer
These settings are not official supported by SureAI. They have been reported on reddit forums as potential fixes for crashes and performance issues. Use at your own risk.
Optimized Textures
Try installing the Optimized Textures mod
UseOSAllocators
Try installing the SKSE Preloader and then in the SKSE Crash Fix Plugin INI: `CrashFixPlugin.ini` change UseOSAllocators from 0 to 1
Disable or lower grass:
go to skyrim.ini (settings in enderal launcher ->others tab -> skyrim.ini) ctrl+f [Grass]. It should look like this: [Grass] bAllowCreateGrass=1 bAllowLoadGrass=0 Add two lines so it looks like that: [Grass] b30GrassVS=0 bAllowCreateGrass=1 bAllowLoadGrass=0 iMinGrassSize=100 You can change the iMinGrassSize to show more or less grass. Higher numbers = less grass. Try between 50 and 150 and see what works best for you. Kudos for Kronixx from Nexusmods.comsource
Another method is simply just setting "Grass Distance" to 0 in Enderal Launcher->Settings
Shadows
Try turning down Shadow Quality.
Multithreading
Turn on Multithreading in Settings (in Enderal Launcher) if you have a good CPU (i5 or i7).
