Description of the Encounter
Kabar's first interaction with the player is during the second objective in the side quest "Put Off the Evil Hour", after a conversation with Nathalia Poppyflower. After eavesdropping on the conversation between Nathalia and Kabar, the player can approach Nathalia and ask her about the problem. She will call Kabar "son of Vatyr", implying that he makes his living on the misfortunes of fleshmaggot victims in Undercity. He is the only merchant in this part of the city that sells Red Vynroot, an essential part of treatment conducted by Apothecarii. She also says that his Vynroot is much more expensive, compared to merchant prices from the "surface". After asking Kabar about all this, he will deny everything and tell the player that he actiually sells vynroot cheaper then other merchants. The player can make a choice now: either believe him and buy herbs for the actual price of 300 pennies, or search his sleeping area, in the Communal Barracks (doors on the left from his counter). If the player chooses the first option, Kabar will be quite pleased ("Pleasure doing business with you"), and further interaction between Kabar and the player won't be possible. There is also a second option. After searching his sleeping area, the player will find an unsigned letter, that reads: "Kabar, as soon as possible at the corpse pit. No weapons, no stupid ideas". Upon entering the Corpse Pit, the player will witness conversation between Kabar and two masked individuals. When later confronted about this, Kabar will tell player about the real reason behind his high prices. He took a loan from the secret cult, The Rhalâta. The player can now do three things: Give him 100 pennies so he can sell vynroot for less, give him 300 pennies so he can easily repay his debt, or simply threaten him and take vynroot by force. Whatever the choice, Kabar's interaction with the player ends here.
Character
Despite being portrayed as a greedy and merciless merchant by Nathalia, Kabar is, in reality, far from that. During his dialogue in the Corpse Pit he reveals to the player what caused his current bad state. His son had drowned in the canals two years ago, and he couldn't handle that, so his business went downwards. After that, he took a loan from The Rhalâta, and selling expensive Red Vynroot and Apothecarii were the only things that kept him alive, and his shop open. After given any amount of money, he will eagerly lower his prices, and that's another thing in favor of this claim.

- Kabar can't be pickpocketed.
- Despite being a merchant, he isn't one of vendors who can trade with the player.
- He is the only NPC who can be seen interacting with The Rhalâta.
