Pickpocketing details. Success chance is displayed at the bottom.

Pickpocketing (or "Sleight of Hand") in Enderal works like in Skyrim - by sneaking the player can inspect peoples inventory and try to steal items from it.

Usage

While sneaking the players interaction with NPCs changes from "Talk" to "Pickpocketing". Using this will open the NPCs inventory. The player can then steal from (or place items into) the inventory. The chance to successfully steal an item depends on the item and if the player is seen. The Memories of the Infiltrator can further increase the chance and even allow to steal equipped items.
The success chance is displayed below the item details.

Consequences

Viewing an NPCs inventory is legal and safe. Stealing items from or placing items into an inventory is not. If caught, the player will receive a bounty and the victim may start to attack.

Additional effects

Sleight of Hand has the following additional effects:

Gambling

While playing the card game "Battle for Treomar", the player can try to attempt fraud in order to raise his chance to win. The chance to succeed depends on the level in pickpocketing. According to a post on reddit, a pickpocketing level of at least 41 is required to even have a tiny chance of succeeding.
The condition to succeed is: Random value between 25 and 110 < Pickpocketing level - 15
which can also be read as: Random value between 40 and 125 < Pickpocketing level
Thus with a pickpocketing level of 100, the chance for the player to succeed is around 70%.
Note: If the player gets caught then the opponent will take back 40% of his bet. The round continues with the players original hand.

Secret stash

When opening containers, Sleight of Hand increases your chance of finding hidden stashes. The default level allows the player to find small stashes while higher levels also enable medium and big stashes. Big stashes can contain rare/unique items.
