Phasmalism is a magical discipline from the school of Sinistra that focuses on the manipulation of souls. Phasmalists can collect dead souls and trap them in talismans, which can then be used to summon the soul as an apparition, loyal to the owner of its talisman.
Just like other disciplines of Sinistra, Phasmalism is forbidden in Enderal.
Souls
See also: Souls (Quest)
Souls can be collected using the Net of Souls, the first talent in the Phasmalist memory tree. Once the talent is used, souls will appear in the game world as a floating swirl of energy, similar to the appearance of magic spells on the menus. If the talent's level is high enough for the soul's level, it can then be collected as a normal item, and will appear on the inventory as such.
The souls available to The Prophet are:

Phasmalist workbenches
In order to create or modify a talisman from collected souls, a Phasmalist workbench is required. These benches are scattered across Enderal, but because Phasmalism is a forbidden magic, they cannot be found openly in path-abiding cities or towns. Most of the time, these benches are located inside of caves or abandoned mines.

Talismans
Once a soul is collected, it can be trapped into a Talisman in a Phasmalism bench. The process is similar to crafting, although each soul can only be trapped once. The phasmalist must have the Soul Smith memory at the appropriate level for the soul that they want to trap (note that the memory required to collect the soul is different from the one required to trap the soul, meaning that it is possible to collect souls that you can't trap, and vice-versa). Once a soul is trapped, the resulting talisman can be equipped by the Phasmalist as an item and customized further in the Phasmalism bench.
Although the Talismans weigh nothing and have zero value, they are not quest items. If a talisman is lost for any reason, its soul will be lost forever, as it is not possible to re-craft talismans or re-acquire souls.
Summoning
After acquiring the Summon Apparition memory, the phasmalist can summon an apparition of a soul trapped in a tasliman by using the Summon Apparition talent with a talisman equipped. The apparition will then aid its summoner in battle. During a combat, its stats (Health, Mana, and Stamina) will be shown on the top-left corner of the screen.
Because Entropy is a forbidden magic branch in Enderal, apparitions cannot be summoned in cities and towns. If an apparition is summoned in the field and brought into a city, it will be banished upon entering the city's boundaries. These effects can be negated with the Phasmalic Veil memory, which allows apparitions to be summoned and brought into cities.
Once an apparition is banished, either due to death, because its amulet was unequipped, or because it entered a city, the phasmalist will have their Arcane Fever increased in proportion to the amount of health that the apparition lost before dying. The maximum amount of Arcane Fever that can be gained this way varies with the level of the Summon Apparition memory, begin 15% at level 1, 11% at level 2, and 8% at level 3.
The exact amount of Arcane Fever gained can be calulated by taking the maximum amount for the current level of the memory, and scaling it according to how much health the apparition lost. For example, if the memory is at level 1 and the apparition lost half of its health before being banished, take the maximum amount for level 1, which is 15%, and scale it to half, since that's how much health the apparition lost. The total Arcane Fever gained is therefore 7.5%.
Spectralizing
Items can be sent to the apparition of a soul by spectralizing them in a Phasmalism bench.
Spell Tomes and equipment that the apparition will use (because it is better than their currently equipped items) will incur a cost of Bone Meal/Ectoplasm (which are interchangeable) and Soul Gems, depending on the strength of the spell tome or the stats of the equipment. Other items such as potions, ingredients, or equipment that the apparition won't use (because it is worse than the one they currently have), can be spectralized at no cost.
Regardless of the items being sent, every spectralization "session" has a minimum cost of 1 soul gem. As such, it is advisable to batch spectralize items by sending as many of them as possible at once.
